Good News: Pope Francis is NOT the Anti-Christ!

When I heard that Pope Francis had taken it upon himself to expand the Gospel I thought of two verses.

First this one: 
For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. (Source: Matthew 24:24)
Obviously, Pope Francis is not demonstating signs and wonders that would deceive anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of Catholic Doctrine and a modicum of the Faith.
Therefore he can't be the Anti-Christ, 'cause I'm not the elect and I'm definitely not deceived. (Humour is good for managing stress in distressing situations ...)


Second verse:
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema. (Source: Galatians 1)

Pope Francis appears to be spreading a new gospel - an eco/humanist gospel.  So he's gone well beyond Pope St. John Paul II who merely added to the Rosary.

Below are the 'new beatitudes':

  • Blessed are those who remain faithful while enduring evils inflicted on them by others and forgive them from their heart. 
  • Blessed are those who look into the eyes of the abandoned and marginalised and show them their closeness.
  • Blessed are those who see God in every person and strive to make others also discover him. 
  • Blessed are those who protect and care for our common home. 
  • Blessed are those who renounce their own comfort in order to help others. 
  • Blessed are those who pray and work for full communion between Christians.

For the record ... here's the Beatitudes:

11 Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake:

Well, it was refreshing reading the real Beatitudes!

We definitely have a bad Pope.

However, if he follows his regular pattern he does something outlandish and then throws the faithful Catholics a bone.

Given the enormity of the praising of Luther etc, I'm wondering if the bone is going to be huge and related to the SSPX.

+ JMJ A non-SSPX Catholic is upset over the SSPX statements on not attending the Novus Ordo Missae. Ladies and gentlemen, what the SSPX, or at least its website editor, is advocating is a mortal sin against the Third Commandment.  Unless the priest deviates from the language of the Sacramentary, the consecration, and thus the rest of Mass is to be considered valid.  No one may elect not to attend Mass simply because abuses are occurring therein.  Might I suggest that such absenteeism is its own abuse?  The Third Commandment binds under mortal sin.  Father So-And-So from the SSPX has no authority whatsoever to excuse attendance at Mass, be that Mass ever so unpalatable.  + JMJ   I've been watching the popularity of the post about Fr. Pfeiffer's attempted episcopal consecration and its continued top listing on the 'popular posts' list at the bottom of posts.  After some thought, I decided that I don't want to be responsible for anyone joining Fr. Pfeiffer's 'group', however unlikely that would be at this time. So I have reverted the article to the draft state. If anyone wants it reinstated, I would ask that they comment on this post with a rationale for reinstatement. P^3

Introduction The recent and continuing interactions between the Vatican and the SSPX have been a great opportunity for prayer and reflection.  The basis for the disagreement is theological and not liturgical.
